OK...so I know this isn't in Utah, but can anyone give some infor on the climbing south of Mesquite? I'm headed down there and would love to get some climbing in. Is there anything there in the sun this time of year?

The Grail is north-facing, so less friendly in the winter. Don't know about Moapa, but I hear it's good.

Bolted a few routes down there in Arrow canyon years ago, but I can't tell from Dr. Topo's map where they are??...the couple 11's the Merwins put up at the cave are great. Haven't been on the harder ones.

Actually I did that Topo, not one of our Northern Neighbors. And I got some free gear out of it. What do you mean I'm a sellout?

So . . . it's been a while, looks like Trent's website is gone, as is dr. topo's. does anyone have any information about climbing in the greater Mesquite metro area?

i'd be happy with a copy of the old info, but newer material would be appreciated as well.

if it's not going to snow this winter, may as well enjoy the warm rock down south, right?

You can find it on Google Earth if you look up Lime Kiln. The first 3 routes on the wall are .10's, then a few .11's. Once you walk past the main wall, there is a little alcove with a few more .10's. The left side has a bunch of .11's and a few .10's too. Between are a ton of .12's and a few .13's. If you like thin and vertical with some slightly overhanging stuff this place is for you.

The routes in the brown rock tend to have bigger holds but also a little choss. To be expected and its a good idea to bring a lid.

$10 a pop now or you can get a $25 season pass for Sunnyside/Albion/Cecret. It's permanent too (looking at next season). I talked to one of their guest services dude and he said, and I quote "we're not doing anything for free anymore, we've had enough of you dirtbags skiing for nothing over here". His mustache with bristling with self-righteousness as he said that...

I really hope Brighton starts a ski free after 3 program just the way they took over all the Alta refuse (the Powderkeg, uphill traffic). Let the mole-hill dwellers relish in their assurance they ski the greatest mini-resort in the West.

Haha, no fuckin way, I'd have had a hard time not reminding him that he's pullin down a solid $7 an hour as a liftie with that shit.

Oh and tene, nice choss pictures. That stuff looks terrifying.

Maybe he is hoping for a raise to $7.25 once those damn freeloaders are out of the picture. Well you know he ain't no dirtbag... he's got a North Face jacket and the finest lycra tights $7 an hour can buy goddammit! Alta, right? Right.

Nice pics, Clay. Makes me wish I wasn't so lazy, the desert is nice in the winter time.
