Park City Ice

Postby davidhiers » Fri Jan 02, 2009 7:30 am

I may be in Park City in Feb, 2008.

What's a good ice climbing guide book for the area?

Thanks,

David

There is little to no ice IN P.C. Your best bet is the Utah Ice book by Dave Black.
Do you have a time machine that will bring you back one year? I mean last year was a pretty big snow year and maybe there was some ice that formed somewhere up there....

Prolly one of the only routes that is kinda around there....even then it's gotta be like 30+ minutes away...but don't that look like a purdy route!

Yes....In Park City ice really is just for cocktails.

1 hour or less to Provo canyon aint bad.

Won't take you an hour to get to Provo Canyon unless the weather's bad. It's like ~35 minutes probably to the Bridal Veil parking lot from PC.

Add in a 15 minute approach to Stairway or Bridal Veil and you're all set. Have a good time.

Some good drips form in Echo, 20 minutes from PC. It's been cold enough. Anyone know anything?

I checked out the Screamers Ice routes in Echo Canyon on New Years day. Screamer Right is in but thin. It should fatten up this week with the melt freeze pattern. See http://www.utahclimbers.com/phpBB2/view ... 8e96af6e35 for route location and description.
