ARC Wilderness and Remote first aid from Utah Wilderness Safety and the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross Wilderness Remote First Aid course is the first curriculum to set a national standard for wilderness first aid. The American Red Cross Wilderness Remote First Aid course is offered as a standalone course or combined with Adult CPR and AED.
Program highlights include:
•16-hour course, with adult CPR/AED training as a prerequisite
•Adult CPR/AED training also offered in conjunction with WRFA course
•Follows Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines established for BSA
•Ideal for employees and others in remote environments an hour or more from EMS response
•Offers enhanced content and topics to meet OSHA Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs
Program Overview
The Wilderness and Remote First Aid 16-hour course is consistent with guidelines established for and by the Boy Scouts of America and is adaptable to meet needs for such training for youth-serving organizations, adult participants in outdoor recreational activities as well as employees working in various wilderness and remote settings where EMS response to the site of an incident is more than 60 minutes. It complies with federal OSHA regulatory requirements for employee training. Major portions are designed to be taught in an outdoor environment. Topics covered include:

* Head (Brain), Neck and Spinal Injuries

* Wounds and Wound Infection

* Hypothermia • Heat-Related Emergencies

* Allergies and Anaphylaxis • Altitude-Related Illnesses

* Bone and Joint Injuries • Burns

* And more…
Each participant who successfully completes the Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid course receives a certificate for successful completion. This certificate meets current wilderness first aid training requirements for a variety of organizations, including Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA, American Camp Association and American Canoe Association.

Course length is 2.5 days (usually Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday 9 - 5)
