and by folks I mean all 3 of you.

Postby grk10vq » Mon Jul 29, 2013 11:17 pm

my life's moment of zen-
here is a 100% true story:

i was at the pile (spray) last thursday w/ Lumberjack and i kid you not! this guy rolls up w/ a pair of madrocks and a chalk bag and says:
"can you give me directions to dogwood"

being a human who thinks before he speaks... i immediately dropped my jaw and eyebrows, smirked, then looked at Lumberjack... he looked back at me, and we both checked the woods for Brian in SLC, boissal, and/or tenesmus?

so i pause, turn to Lumberjack, who still has his mouth open, and is looking like he's just had his wallet stolen by a gyspy...and i hesitantly say: yes?

he then says that he's looking for a place to toprope and heard that dogwood was good?

allright folks? and by folks i mean the three of you, REALLY!! are you fucking serious???
ME of all people?? get asked d1Erections to dogwood!!?

then something came over me, like a fart in an elevator....
this day my friends, the spirit of Brian in SLC was strong, very strong,
i myself, gave the man directions-

directions
to
dogwood.

then he left, with shoes, his chalkbag, and my SOUL in hand.

i looked at lumberjack, he looked at me,
and all I could say was: "that just happened"

Can't be real. This is a troll, right?

No way you were actually helpful...

He's probably still hiking up to Beer Belly Buttress....

He recounted the story with enough shame than I'm pretty sure he's telling the truth. Although there are many ways to Dogwood and some of them certainly go by Beer Belly...
If someone finds a desiccated body up there a few months from now with nothing but a pair of mad rocks clipped to his chalk bag it will be easy to identify.

I recently was drenched in spray by some broad at the gate parking lot who couldn't STFU about how her BF was gonna do the FA of this OW at the Waterfront (further inspection revealed he was nowhere near FAing or even getting off the ground on On the Waterfront) and she was gonna get on the Coffin...
I'm still impressed she found a way to hike from the Gate to Crescent without getting hopelessly tangled in brush.

And they went something like, 'Head back towards that road, turn right before you get there and head down canyon and up towards the huge cliffs.'
(ie, grk and my failed exploration of an alternate approach to beer belly)

On a powers 5 piece bolt should the blue plastic spacer be removed before placing the bolt?

"Ruth Lake is a very special place. I smile more climbing here than any place in Utah. Please keep the area clean and leave your cottonwood canyon attitudes at home, just come climb hard and enjoy the tranquil space."

What, like, don't bolt next to perfectly good cracks? Lousy attitude.

Tried this on lead for the first time today. Ran it out and took a 30 ft whipper. IMO one of the best routes in RC.

Not as hard as Bushwhack Crack or Satan's Corner in LCC. Did not feel like there were any 5.9 moves on it. Very sustained 5.8 doesn't make it 5.9.

I'm going out on a limb and suggesting 5.8+.

Wait. Someone took a 30 footer and is parsing 5.9 vs 8+?

someGymrat wrote:This route is bad. I would not recommend to anyone. The roof is this super sandy rock. It makes it scary and not fun. I doubt it's an "it'll clean up" situation either, i think it's just bad rock. IMO, this route should not have even been bolted once the quality of this rock was discovered.

haha!..my bad...lol

Me think the sand didn't come from the route as much as his mangina...
The towers are a complete junkshow these days. Gapers left and right hopping on the new lines then beating on the old stuff on TR. Bail biners as far as the eye can see. That place used to be the last refuge...
