Moving to Utah

Postby kentuckysarah » Mon Mar 10, 2008 1:54 pm

Hey all, I'm moving from KY to Utah next week. I'll be working out of Duchesne, but I'll be living in SLC or Provo or Ogden. Wherever I can get a place.

I'm really looking forward to the climbing and hopefully I can get some skiing in before the season is over. It's going to be really different moving to a place where I don't know anybody and don't have lots of people to climb with. I'm used to the really close knit climbing community we have at the Red River Gorge. I need people to climb with! SO, who wants to be my friend?

Should still be able to get in alot of skiing. With the amount of snow we've gotten, I wouldn't be surprised if Snowbird was open until May.

As for climbers, there's a lot of us here, but I don't know about close knit. Most of the people on this site are shady characters who might only offer you one PBR if climbing with them after work in the summer.

Second Nature?

I have met some of the Second Nature folks in the Wells Club in Duchesne after they were talking about a bouldering trip down to Joes. Hopefully you will find some partners at work. (They were all dudes so I bet that will be the case.)

Post up when you are in SLC and come boulder with us.

It's so true. Oftentimes, you have to sneak the rest behind their backs. Try this favorite of mine - steal their chalk, then when they're confused as to why their chalk bag keeps getting lighter, drink their beer.

What kind of climbing do you do mostly?

Yes, I'll be working at Second Nature. It's a really nice schedule to have as a climber...work 8 days/off 6.

Only one PBR? Jeez  I'm really not sure about you people.
That's fine though, I can buy my own (I hope, still haven't figured out how that works in Utah).

I climb mostly sport. I love trad, but don't have any gear...so I follow it. I really like offwidths. And, I boulder when I get the chance. I haven't done any real climbing since last summer, so I'm out of shape.

I love Pru. I'm going to miss her. Hopefully I get to see her before I leave.

Doo-chez-knee is that much closer to Joes, Jurrasic, da Swell and Moab. You'll get to know the drive down Indian Canyon well I suspect. I am jealous. Gotta sell out of PC -- freaking SLC bedroom community.
