Local Shoe Resole?

Postby FlyfishermanMike » Fri Sep 30, 2005 5:18 am

Is there a local place (SLC) where I can get my shoes resoled? I've only shipped them off before.

Mekan Custom Shoes & Boots
116 East Helm Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84115
(801) 293-8135
(801) 293-8181 (fax)

I do have to warn you though, I got a pair of Mythos resoled there and they fell apart in a week. I never resole shoes anymore, just keep your eyes out for closeouts (backcountry.com, REI, IME) and you can get good, cheap shoes.

Resoles

Postby Dave Budge » Fri Sep 30, 2005 6:38 pm

Mekan ruined a favorite pair of shoes once. Maybe things are different now.

The Village Cobbler near Foothill Village has a young guy who seems very skilled at other aspect of cobbling, so it may be worth checking out.

Safe bet: Rubber Room in Bishop, or Rock N' Resole in Colorado. Both do a great job, my preference is the RR although they are a bit slower and may cost more.

mekan does not care any more. got a number of crappy resoles over the last few years before I knew any better. always takes longer than he says and half the time nobody's there during posted hours. send em away.

amen. Its just as cheap to send them off as it is to drive over there two or three times to try and get your shoes back...

the rubber room did some good stuff for me once, and the place in boulder too... i dunno what that name is. it'll be in any climbing mag.
the rubber room is cool just because the chick in the ad is hot, even if she is a cartoon.
get your grrrrr on

Komitos in Estes park does a good and fast job. $28 a resole and you get them back in a week or so. You can get the phone # at IME or out the back of a mag.
Puts in new laces including mythos no extra charge.

I have been resoling climbing shoes for a couple years. Something I've been doing on the side for extra cash. I do a fantastic job with a fast turn around time. Customer satisfaction guaranteed. $35 per pair cash only please.
