Backclip, it would only take six or less days. We may be going on a cat trip at the end of September, if you are interested. Our boat is a 13' self bailer, pretty exciting on cat even in low water.

I was sure this thread was going to be about Tene's pets.

No, just Cataract Canyon. 5 days on the river, I think. Usually spend a day and a half motoring on the flat water, and camping at Brown Betty campsite for 2 nights. Spend a day hiking in the Dollhouse from there. Next day is a rapid day and 1 more night camping before the flat water motor across the "lake". Always a fun trip with good people.

It will be a few years before we do the Grand. I do have a permit though.

sounds fun! Is there still current to Hite? That was pretty sweet the last time I did it. Even had a few sand waves and mud rapids where the lake sediment was getting scoured out and downstream. I predict Backclip will devote his life to boating within 5 years. Nothing (besides his family, of course) will matter more to him that getting on a river with a cold one.

even more addicting that climbing, just living in slc puts the good stuff far, far away.

Not to sure about the current to Hite. It has been many years since I was down that way. Is that even the take out now? We always just used a small outboard motor mounted on a homemade transom for the flat water and packed it away for the whitewater.

Nice pics!

My boat is a 16' self-bailer. I've had a good year doing Cataract and the Grand, with a run down Westwater yesterday for good measure. The level in the photos is about 8K. We took a 10' maravia bucket boat down Cat at 14K a few years back, and it stayed upright.

The current is basically gone at Gypsum, and totally gone at Dark Canyon. I wouldn't even consider going down there without a motor anymore. The Hite boat ramp is usable again, but the lake gets pretty choppy in the wind so I still prefer taking out at the Dirty Devil as long as it isn't a shit show from other groups taking out.
