Re: anchors.

Glad to see it still looks great! I wanted Rob to have a warm fuzzy welcome feeling when he arrived at the end of the pitch. Cold shut is bomber. The chain weighed more than my rack. Strongest anchor on this thread! tda Almost as solid as what you left on top of that pile in Fergy yesterday

Re: your mp moment of zen...

GRK is gonna love this.... About two months ago, I gave Hollow Man (BCC) a shot, but I got worked (my first lead fall!). I was told that there was a way to scramble (4th class) up the backside of Challenge Buttress to the top, do one rappel, set up a top rope on Hollow Man, and then do one more rapp...

Re: your mp moment of zen...

Geez, I never claimed an FA...just that it had been commonly done back in the day is all. Mantle Variation is in all the old guidebooks as a route. I'd heard it'd been soloed. Kim probably did laps on it methinks... Stifflers...before the dust up over this route, I remember talking to someone in RE...

Re: your mp moment of zen...

"The Mantel" was bolted on lead by Scott Keller in 1996. Brian Cabe later claimed to have free-soloed it in 1985.

Damn Brian, free-soloing stuff and claiming FAs...
Is it a memory that sprouted in your head after getting hit in the head with ice/rock?

Re: Youtube moments of zen

Damn... the top looked a bit bumpy! Years ago when I still lived in the motherland we raced in Vars and Les Arcs which have the two fastest runs for speed skiing/biking. I stood on top of Les Arcs and being roped in makes perfect sense, the slope is probably 45 degrees. Dropping in on a bike would b...

Re: your mp moment of zen...

For those of you who missed it, this thread is interesting. It starts slow then heats up on P2 for a classic finish. The main protagonist is a certain Mountain Beater, err, Dreamer, who's apparently involved in a re-bolting, err, history re-writting effort, in Wall Street Moab. The thread goes as ex...

Re: Ticks

When? Looks like it's snowing right now, silly winter returning to shorten the sweet sweet winter season...
I'm worried about a lot more than the swing on that pile or the one to the left but I'll get back on either!

Re: your mp moment of zen...

I did not realize jugging was an aid climbing term, I thought he was talking about practicing some kind of bouldering on jug holds and then relying on the daisy to support him in between tries.

Re: Ticks

More of a case of calling Shingo a beater cause he wasn't skiing that day and I was. That probably happens once per winter, it's worth noting. Since climbing is the only thing that stiffens your wiener you missed the point. Ticks? I hear they're few and far between in hospital settings... But check ...

Re: Ticks

We ran into the same lizard three days in-a-row on the approach in to the Gargoyle gully... On Sunday, I had to extricate a tick from my side. What is happening out there? Crazy. Didn't see any while skiing awesome whipped cream in Days Fork... They've been creeping around since late January, the e...
