Lost: Metolius Express Haul Sack w/asst. hardware!

Howdy, Everyone! A pair out-of-state climbers stopped by the shop this afternoon; seems they left a black Metolius Express Haul Sack with a few cams, some larger Tri-Cams and a handful of quickdraws at the base of the JCHOB wall in BCC, stashed in a nook below Outside Corner. They're in town for jus...

Liberty Mountain

A very special thanks to Nathan Smith and to Liberty Mountain for their generous donation of 50 WAG-BAGs for use this season at Lone Peak Cirque! Through the years, Liberty Mountain has remained one of the SLCA's most active local supporters; it is only with their continued support that we're able t...

Re: anchors.

That is the lower of the two 'new' bolted rap anchors on Pete's Staircase, Lone Peak Cirque. Some might remember that the same, 7mm-Perlon-threaded-through-11/16"-Supertape anchors were once installed--in mid-July, 2009--to replace and to consolidate the multiple pieces of aging tat slung aroun...

Re: Disputed bolts/routes

Gentlemen, "Sonny Chiba" here... I'd like to submit that, although I, too, would have preferred the old, sling-anchor set-up over the newer, bolted rappel stations above Pete's Staircase, I could care less at this point--the holes have already been drilled, and any subsequent effort to res...

Favorite Ruckman-"isms?"

Alright, Everyone! We all know that the Ruckmans' Wasatch guide ranks as one of the best ever written... What's your favorite phrase or description from this classic tome? Post up--if it's a good one, we may just have to print it on our next NST shirt!!! Cheers, S

Re: Favorite Ruckman-"isms?"

That's a good one. But I dare you to dig deep and find that uniquely Bret and Stuart saying that brings a smile--or a smirk--to your ugly mug each time you open the good book to that page. The AF guide is also fair game. S

Re: Ice and snow pics

Lessons learned from my epic with Alexis: #1 Belayed, roped skiing sucks--especially if you've never done it before and like a total dip-shit, you tie into the front of the harness and not to the back. Doh! #2 Wide, reverse-camber planks are shit when it gets really, really steep and there's no snow...

Re: Ice and snow pics

This is the crag in the middle of the Hypodermic, no? A summer approach up the slab and talus would be hateful--it's now, Steve, or never! Any takers? I'd love to hike gear up there, then ski it all down the Coal Pit to explore that buttress to the northwest of the Headwall! YAARRR!!! S
