Re: your mp moment of zen...

Geez, I never claimed an FA...just that it had been commonly done back in the day is all. Mantle Variation is in all the old guidebooks as a route. I'd heard it'd been soloed. Kim probably did laps on it methinks... Stifflers...before the dust up over this route, I remember talking to someone in REI...

Re: Psicocomp

I bet Brian in SLC knows all, he was glued to his binoculars until the dudes started climbing. He kinda lost interest after that. Go figure...ha ha. Comp was great. JC thought she'd won her heat... That start mantle looked hard and as the comp went on, the opening holds got wet, making it harder. F...

Gnarly epic fail!

Did he get hurt? Yikes!

Coffee and Cornflakes? Now known as Scream Machine? Great route.

I'd suggest a quickdraw with a sling that's easier to hang onto...ha ha...

Re: Touch Up's piton has been removed

How's the clip?

I still think a rapide and short chain (or ring), painted camo, might be sweet instead of the usual tat that makes the clip reasonable.

Montserrat is really close to Barcelona. Reminded me of Maple.

Gobs of climbing nearby. Costa Blanca area isn't too far south, either.

Wonder how it'd look on a chicka...? Cut isn't optimal, I'd imagine. Roomy in the chest for you, Rob?

Re: Touch Up's piton has been removed

For what it's worth, I say replace the pin. It is not our mandate now, or for that matter, in perpetuity, to guarantee climbers' safety....Anyone who ventures outdoors and assumes that the mountains and everything in them are static should probably re-evaluate the nature of risk inherent in all for...

Re: Touch Up's piton has been removed

[Brian, IMO your comments are a nice overreaction....it's not going to happen. Oh, it could happen. Has on a number of routes. Equipment Overhang? There's a huge list of routes that have sprouted bolts in place of pitons for pro. Cranial? Ugh...don't even want to open that can of worms...ha ha... H...
