Re: The Brighton Boltapocalypse

Looks like a rebolting project gone wrong.
I'm sure they will come back and remove the old bolts someday.

Re: your mp moment of zen...

Mabey Tea can help us design a medal for community service that we can give to tony!
I know a silversmith and will provide the silver.
Might be the only medal that he could keep without charges filed!

Re: Touch Up's piton has been removed

But what about the noobs? Im just going to use the geezer wall factor and bolt that pin placement. As a public service for the climbing community!! The beginners should be able to climb all the routes in lcc without a rack, or dangerous fixed pins!! Me and Mark sargent are going to bolt every crack ...

Re: Touch Up's piton has been removed

Good job Brian!! Thanks for getting it done.
I just figured the placement was blown out by now. I had no plans to bolt it myself.

I would like to think that all the talk about a bolt was motivation for you to get it fixed....

Re: Touch Up's piton has been removed

Well lets go take a look at it, and talk to the FA before anything is done.
Could replace the second bolt on all chalk while we are there.
I would rather see the route restored to its original condition, but it still sounds like a bad idea to me.
Pulled too many fixed pins by hand in my day.

Any fixed pin is still a time bomb.
Tough call for sure.

Re: your mp moment of zen...

This route, Steort's Ridge, is one of the premiere multi-pitch climbs in Big Cottonwood Canyon, and it is popular because of the terrific exposure, the variety of skills called upon and the excellent protection...it is THE stand-out route on the crag. Consequently, many parties are forced to retreat...

Re: your mp moment of zen...

James went up there today. Anchor is still there but there was an accident also. He should be posting about it later.
